About the Artist

That would be me on the left! 12-9-13 (37)

I’ve always been artsy and had my hands in creative writing, sewing, needlework, design, paint and other messy stuff as long as I can remember, including renovations of Victorian-era homes, but that’s a whole other story. For over thirty years, I was actually first and foremost a music director, as expounded upon on my original blog here.

I’m from a (formerly) very rural part of NW NJ where the 1980 census showed that there were more head of cattle than humans in our county while I was in school. A country girl in her element in a pair of jeans, t-shirt and sandals, I wound up here in Florida because I really hate being cold.

I had the opportunity to spend the first year here by the Gulf setting up shop and beginning my sculpture projects to combine several loves: animals and working with my hands. In addition to custom work, I taught a sculpture class using recyclable materials at our local senior center. Currently, I am enjoying painting storefront windows, helping local businesses in my town to draw in more customers.

Until last year when I got knocked off my feet by Hodgkins lymphoma (it’s over and gone now, thank Heaven!), I had been the music director at a local church. Rehearsals are always at night, so during the day I got to spend a lot of time working from home surrounded by my dog Nemo and my other dogs Rico (okay, so I just borrow him), Sparky and Phoofie (who thinks he’s a dog), making sculpted pieces that remind people of beloved pets that have shared their lives.

I’d say I’m a pretty happy and grateful girl for all of that. If I had to come up with a philosophical statement that describes my world view and who I am in essence, it would be this:

about me

So, welcome to my studio and feel free to poke around a bit!
