Dogtoberfest 2014

Had a great time with the humans here in Dogedin. Not only did Charlie and I stop in to the kissing booth at Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue’s hot pink tent, but the Doxie sculptures were auctioned off to help raise money for Suncoast Animal League’s support. Here I am with Dr. Cal Hay of Tampa Surgical Services who went home with the Doxies. Great time as always!

Boxer pair – Hoot and Pete

It’s been a fast four weeks working on this life-sized pair, but they are now ready to go to their forever home with Rocky.

Hoot was a brindled Boxer mix and Pete was a snow white Boxer. The impression I got from the photographs provided is that Hoot was a kind of goofy, vocal and huggy kind of dog and Pete appears to have had the patience of a saint, long-suffering and mellow. All dogs have their bursts of bounciness, but Pete appears to have been a champion napper. Both of the boys clearly loved their little buddy, Rocky, from the snuggle photos I saw. I hope that their personalities come through and that they help keep alive for their owner the memories of his beloved pets.

Boxers – in progress

A pair of life-sized Boxers is in the works – blast this infuriating humidity, though! Here the boys are coming along as their ears dry in the breeze of my fan. 😀

Sculpture class today

Nemo just loves going with me to teach the sculpture class over at the senior center. Constructed from recycled objects and wrapped up with papier mache like little mummies, after construction and addition of clay details like eyes and toes, we switch to the painting of our little creations.

Fun with pet food bags

True to my recycling mantra of “reclaim and reuse,” here are just a few of the recycling projects we’ve used large plastic pet food bags for: three of the aprons for our art class as well as a banner for our table at craft fairs.

Outdoor studio

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and a lovely day to be working outside. True to my “use as much recycled materials wherever and whenever possible” mantra, I found both the stool and the glass-topped desk on the side of the road, on different days, but still free. Got to love that!
