Rico’s 1st Anniversary

It’s been a whole year since Baby Rico starting coming for overnights while his human is away at work. He was so excited that I came home with a convertible just for him, that he got in and wouldn’t come out. ❤

I can’t help it….. he’s so darned cute! Today, he was glued to my side the entire day. He even climbed up onto the chaise outside to squish in next to me. That’s some serious puppy love. My Other Dog surely loves me as much as I love him.

The boys are at it again

Bed wrestling …. one of their favourite past times. Totally leaving the bed covers in a mess, but having a grand time and being so incredibly cute I can’t ever get mad. I just re-make the bed when they’re done. Sigh. I love my boys. #LuvMyDog #LuvMyOtherDog

Rico gets very emotional

I don’t know how I missed posting up this one from the other day ……. it’s so adorable! Heavy sighing, looking down the street, completely convinced his human is never coming home again. #LuvMyOtherDog

Dances with Dogs

So, I just wanted to get a shot of my “tank top of the day” to share on our studio’s Facebook page and, of course, the boys were right there with me. My little bud Rico is jealous of Nemo, so whenever Nemo comes over and leans on me, Rico has to one-up him and take the high road to get to me! LOL

So I let the camera click away and herewith present to you ……. Dances with Dogs!

(I know I am a dog dork and my biggest fans are furry!!!)

#LuvMyOtherDog

Seriously, how could I not??? Rico is so precious ….. and needy. At night when we go to bed, Rico has to get up on his pillow with his snout right next to my face, at least one paw stretched out touching me and will keep smacking me until I lay my hand over him. Once we get past this bedtime ritual, he will shuffle around until he gets comfortable, but this routine goes on every night he sleeps here.

In my studio space (read: garage), it’s much the same with his being able to reach me from the comfort and convenience of his dog chair. So what was I thinking when I shifted my laptop setup over one desk space the other day because now he can’t reach me from his chair. He has to touch or at least be able to touch at all times, so this change in decor has upset him a bit. All day yesterday, the little guy (okay, he’s 85lbs which isn’t that little, but he’s smaller than 130lb Nemo) kept pushing his nose up between the two chairs at me or climbing across the empty one from his dog chair. Gotta #LuvMyOtherDog !!!

Rico gets a promotion

Rico is a super cuddly pup who, whenever he is here, is most often glued to my side or under my feet chewing on toys, sticks, recyclables or whatever I’m eating, climbing up onto his chair beside my desk to either rest his head on my foot or leg or continue climbing up onto my lap because he wants something or to give me dog kisses, or he’s curled up next to me in bed at night. When he’s not in my sight, he can be found poking around the back yard eating the flower buds off the hibiscus plants, flushing the hens out from under a bush, or trying to tackle Nemo (that is, if Nemo has come out of the air conditioning long enough to do more than just tinkle). He’s a charming little fellow about whom I am as gaga over as I am over my own dog and not embarrassed to admit it.

Since Rico, a/k/a My Other Dog, has been the inspiration for several of our studio hashtag designs, it only seems fair to him that for his birthday, he receive a well-deserved promotion here at BigBlackDogStudio.

St. Rico – patron saint of Dogtober

I was playing around with the artistic effects on this picture. A friend on Facebook had commented that it looked like a stained glass window in a dog church! LOL I love that! So, I’m sharing it here, too.

Worldwide Black Lab crime spree continues

Dunedin, FL – It’s full moon, folks, and dogs all around the world are in full-tilt shredder mode. Earlier today, a one-year old Labrador Retriever named Kay in Northumbria was caught mercilessly shredding one of her birthday presents.

Kay shredding boomerang toy 10-18-13This outrageous crime spree by guilty Labs has been getting worse. In just this past week, a three-year old Black Lab named Ruby was caught stealing a taxidermy possum during an educational presentation in a public park Down Under. The suspect in that case was incarcerated and later sent to rehab for retraining.

Closer to home, we have similar, tragic news to share: the famous Stinky Dog blanket, beloved comforter of wet and stinky dogs banned from the interior of the home until such time as they were acceptably dry, has met an untimely end late this evening.

The suspect, one-year old Rico, was caught with poly stuffing dangling from his mouth when BigBlackDogStudio’s resident artist happened to turn around and caught the canine destroyer in the act. The artist became suspicious when all of a sudden, she realised that the studio was eerily quiet and that the sounds of various plastic water bottles being chewed only moments before had suddenly ceased.

When confronted by the artist about the blanket-shredding incident, the suspect cocked his head sideways and pretended not to understand the question. The suspect was thereafter taken into custody and confined indoors while the evidence was gathered into a large garbage bag. Charges are pending.

Me = dog dork

Since Rico’s human’s birthday is just two days apart from Rico’s, I absolutely couldn’t resist. Yeah, it’s totally dog dork of me, but hey. If you already know me, you’re not surprised. If you don’t already know me, well, what else do you need to know? 😀

Birthday present found

Eureka! I believe I found a good first birthday present for My Other Dog: a West Paw Designs Zisc, which is a virtually indestructible frisbee. Of course, we’ll see about that. It is guaranteed, however, which is a very good thing since Rico loves frisbees but he destroys normal plastic frisbees.

Foot pillow

Rico does not accept that the chair has shrunk. Even though I rearranged my studio space so there is literally three times the amount of available floor space, my cuddly Other Dog still needs to curl up where he’s touching me. And I thought Nemo was cuddly! Is this the sweetest thing ever, or what??? #LuvMyOtherDog
